Blessed Beltane!

Beltane, which is the halfway point between the Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice, is a Sabbat that celebrates the new growth and life of the planet. It’s essentially the spiritual equivalent to a second Samhain (Halloween) and is it’s opposite on the Wheel of the Year.

It’s traditional to weave flower crowns and collect May flowers, dance around a May Pole, have a huge bonfire, collect rainwater, and have lots and lots of sex.

Yep, Beltane is the ultimate fertility holiday. All the plants are finally growing, bunnies and kittens are being born, and 9 months after this time of year, there is a baby boom.

Other than the Autumnal Equinox, this is my favorite holiday of the year. It doesn’t get a lot of attention in the United States, but it’s so full of beautiful life!
